Hey everyone!
I spent about a month and a half in Swaziland, and it was such an incredible experience. Initially, I wasn’t too excited because the idea of hanging out with kids all day, every day sounded exhausting. However, it turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip. I had the opportunity to minister to the kids by showing them love, playing with them, and just being there for them. Many of them don’t receive much love at home. We would visit care points, which are places where kids can get a meal and play games with us. It was so much fun! We also did house visits and witnessed two healings in just two weeks.
The first healing involved a lady who was caring for orphans and was visibly stressed and in pain. She had knee pain, and coincidentally, one of my teammates experienced knee pain that morning. We encouraged her, and she was in tears. After praying for her a few times, she started laughing and said she no longer felt the pain. It was incredible to see the change in her face.
After that, we had parent week, which was a sweet experience. I got to show my parents and friends what I’ve been doing. Then, we had a debrief and learned about Muslim culture. We also had an awakening event where two other squads joined us for worship and community. We learned a lot about fasting, silence, and solitude (which was challenging for me), but it led to many new friendships.
We traveled for over 50 hours, stopping in Dubai and spending the night at the Singapore airport. It was a bittersweet goodbye as half of our squad went to Indonesia, while my team, Team Rivers, went to Malaysia to teach English to refugee kids, do house visits, help with church services, and assist with whatever else is needed. We just had our first day of ministry, and it’s been amazing so far.
